With the school year coming to an end, new agendas start to begin, in order to prepare for the next school year. One of them being North Creek football starting back up. With practice beginning to kick off for the preparation of next season and football camp at Central Washington starting towards the end of June, North Creek football players are looking to make a statement this year. “Yeah we won Kingo Co last year for the Crest Division, so I think that’s definitely our goal, and then also probably making it a little farther than that,” Offensive Tackle Brody Madsen said. Last season North Creek won Kingo Co for the Crest Division but eventually fell short to make it any further due to a 56-35 loss from Arlington.
However, North Creek has improved over the off season, and have been focusing on improving certain aspects of their game. “I think our O-line [is our biggest strength] I think we have four returners, we have quite a bit of seniors and a lot of leadership on the line. I think we struggled there last year, I think this year we are going to be a lot better,” Brody Madsen said.
Leadership has been a significant focus during practice and the off season for upcoming seniors this season. “Everyone’s working pretty hard, so I think people are gonna step up and fill a pretty big role,” Madsen said. The seniors last year were a significant part of the North Creek team, seniors like Peyton Cunningham, Miles Ledet, and Jackson McGill and plenty more had a tremendous impact. “They had such a big impact on me, so I know the importance of [stepping up], hopefully I’ll be able to do that,” Madesn said. Seniors are the main priority when looking at leadership, and with lots of them returning there’s plenty of new leadership on the rise, with current juniors such as Brody Masen, Brody Schwarz, and Brandon Curci they are potentially looking to step up for their final season. “I think we have really good guys and everyone plays for each other and not very self-separated… I’m excited to be playing football this year,” Masen said.
