Concert going and the general uprising in new tours being announced every year has caused ticket prices to absolutely skyrocket these past couple of years. Buyers have noticed how expensive it’s becoming to go see an artist live, as statistics show from the years 2019 to 2024, there’s been a 34.3% increase in average ticket costs. Now that artists are back on tour again since the pandemic, prices are higher than ever. Even for artists performing in smaller venues, ticket prices are outrageously expensive.
Most artists are seen charging 70-100 per ticket without the excess fees and charges from ticket holders. TicketMaster has begun adding not only service fees, but an order processing fee and delivery fee, charging almost 75% of the base price of the ticket.
Not all is to blame on just ticket sellers, many artists have begun overcharging ticket prices. Artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, and Billie Eilish are charging roughly 700+ for tickets to their tour in Climate Pledge Arena this year. Concert prices have begun being unbelievably overpriced and expensive for fans, students at North creek have expressed their inability to attend concerts they’ve been dreaming of going to due to outrageous prices.
Concerts should be a place for fans and lovers of music to come together and enjoy their favorite artists in one place, it shouldn’t be an event that places a large dent in your bank account and negatively affects you financially.
