As October 10th and 24th, the dates for the PSAT, inch ever closer, half of North Creek’s students find themselves scrambling to prepare for the impending exam. Some contribute to the sale records of Princeton Review or Barron’s prep books, while others flip back in their geometry materials to find anything they’ve forgotten in the time since they have been out of their geometry classroom. But one thing is for certain: all of them are preparing to take on the PSAT.
For sophomore students, this is a chance for them to take a peek at what the SAT will look like in the future. And for juniors, many of them are taking the PSAT to get a shot at the National Merit Scholarship Program, which is rigorously selective of whom they sponsor.
“I’m going to tutoring and taking practice tests,” says junior Anavi Bhide, who has been preparing for the PSAT for the past 5 months. Although she is not hoping to reach for the National Merit Scholarship, she is still working hard to earn a good grade on the exam, just like hundreds of other students at North Creek.
