From getting emotional in interviews, getting matching tattoos, sharing special moments on set, and building a bond stronger than ever, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have built a true connection from their iconic characters Glinda and Elphaba.
Since the thrilling release of Wicked, fans have all been expressing their opinions and thoughts on the film, including if it has lived up to their expectations. Students at North Creek High School have been asked about their personal thoughts after watching the film.
Sophomore Aaron Linn was asked what part of the movie strongly resonated with him the most, and he said: “The Defying Gravity part, when Elphaba rose up against the Wizard Of Oz and his guards, I thought that was really cool. And when Elphaba was falling down from the building top and the reflection of her younger self appeared in the windows, I found that so cool”.
Users online have also shared their love for the song Defying Gravity and how well it was portrayed in the film. In an interview, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erevo were told that fans were taking the time recently to “hold space” for the lyrics of Defying Gravity. Cynthia, getting emotional, and replied with, “I didn’t know that that was happening, that’s – really powerful. That’s what I wanted”.
Students commented on the occurrences of emotional interviews and whether or not Cynthia and Ariana’s emotions made sense after seeing the film, getting a nearly 50/50 response. Most students replied with “No, I thought the movie was great but not enough to cry in an interview” but also some replying with, “Yes, Wicked is so large and the movie took so long for them to film, it makes sense”.
Overall, Jaguars have really enjoyed Wicked and its special moments whether that be on set or offset, Wicked has been a global thrill that can’t help but reach our North Creek campus.
