Taylor Swift Re-Recording

Taylor Swift has announced that she will be re-recording her old records. Swift does not own her masters because music manager Scooter Braun bought Big Machine Label, which was Swift’s old record label. This means that Scooter Braun owned the original recordings of Swift’s first five albums. When Swift left Big Machine for Republic Records in 2018, she was forced to leave the masters of her first five albums behind. “I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in,” said Swift in an Instagram post.

Owning her masters is important because it allows her to maximise her money earnings on the songs by letting television shows and movies use the copyright. Artists should own their own music so that they can do what they want with the music they created. In August of 2019, Swift appeared on Good Morning America and revealed that she is re-recording her old albums that got sold. “My contract says that, starting November 2020, so next year, I can record albums one through five all over again,” said Swift. “I’m very excited about it…because I just think that artists deserve to own their work, I just feel very passionately about that” said Swift.
She has since released the new re-recording of “Love Story” and will be releasing the entire Fearless album on April 9th of 2021. This re-recording of Fearless will also include six never before heard songs that didn’t make it on the original album. This is a huge business move on Swift’s part. Swift has a massive fan base with a ton of die heart fans.

Swift’s fans are excited to hear the old songs they know and love in a whole new way. She started her first album when she was only 15-years-old. She has mentioned that she writes about her life, this means that her music is like her life’s diary. She has been putting out relatable and beautifully written music for years and still continues to do so. She has been nominated for 910 awards and has won 401. She most recently won album of the year for the third time at the 2021 Grammys.
